Client Join Domain Window 2008R2
Window XP can joined domain. But Window 7 can not join domain. Following error has comes. An attempt to resolve the DNS name of a domain controller in the domain being joined has failed. Please verify this client is configured to reach a DNS server that can resolve DNS names in the target domain. Thanks.BT SINGH

Hi, Is your windows 7 getting IP address from DHCP ? can you ping your Domain Controller ? Also can you try giving DNS server IP address manually?Thanks, Swapnil Prajapati

static IP. I can ping domain controler. I gave DNS IP. IP address:192.168.0.10 Subnet Mas:255.255.255.0 Default gateway:192.168.0.1 Preferred DNS Server:192.168.0.5 Alternate DNS Server: 192.168.0.2( Server IP) But able to joined from XP. BT SINGH

Run nslookup, and verify that the machine can reach the DNS server. Ensure that the correct DNS server is specified and you have connectivity to that server. Make sure you configured right preferred DNS IP in client, which one is the domain controller IP.Thanks, Swapnil Prajapati
