Client/workstation login
After setting up a user account on server when I try to log in on the desktop it says domain controller does not exist. Any ideas or suggestions?

Hello, please make sure the workstation is configured to use the domain DNS server only on the NIC and not the ISPs one. Please post an unedited ipconfig /all from the client and the server so we can verify the setup.Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

Please paste the IPCONFIG/ALL from your workstation and DC here. It sounds like DNS issues. Make sure you are using the correct primary DNS server IP address on the workstation. Hi rzaeske , Before we move on, could you distribute more detail about your environment? 1 How many domain controller in your system ? 2 How the client obtain IP address? 3 Is this client computer a member of domain ? 4 Is there any error event ID on your client computer ? 5 Are all the client computers encountered same issue? The “ipconfig /all” result of both your client and domain controller will be helpful for troubleshooting. “Domain controller does not exist” indicate that client can’t located domain controller ,please check if workstation using the AD integrate DNS server IP address and connectivity. Hi, As per your question regarding unable to loging in on desktop using created user id and pass, so first chk account is active or not, try to loging from another system, chk the ip/dns settings, ping to dns address, and check the loging hours of created user and if you are facing this problem for the particaular user chk the gp policy, restart the dns service. Best regards, azzmicrosoft
