Changing new Local Security Policy
I want to change a setting in my local security policy. I have tried this with the machine both on and off of the domain. I need to do this at the commnand line as there are dozens and of devices spead out over serveal loactions. I am using XPe for the devices. I used the current User_Rights local policy and modified the write I wanted to change. I then exported to a Unicode Text (tab delimited) txt file. I changed the extension of this file to .inf. The command line I used was: secedit /import /db secedit.sdb /cfg c:\newsec.inf /overwrite /areas user_rights /log c:\secpol.log /quiet. It always seems to fail with the same error. = An extended error has occurred. Anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? I have not been able to find anything in my searches on Microsoft.comThank you in advance.

you cannot export the list to file and then rename to .INF. The export feature is just an export to a list for some later reference. nobody ever uses it :-)the right procedure is to start MMC console, add snap-in called Security Templates and create the new .INF file by using the template editor.after that you can use SECEDIT to apply the create .INF file.ondrej.

Hi,
For the Windows XP Embedded related issues, I am afraid that this forum is not the best resource. I suggest that you post to the Windows XP Embedded discussion group. The support professionals there are more qualified to assist you.
