I am in the planning process of moving from our current 3 servers to 3 new servers. At this time I would like to change our internal Domain name because it is the same as our external domain name. What is the best practice to accomplish this?I am currently running Server 2003 on all three and exchange 2007, but will be moving to Server 2008and Exchange 2007.Please let me know what more information I can provide.Thanks again for any assistance.

Hi xrionx If you are running Exchange 2007 it is not possible to perform a domain rename operation. The only option I can think of would be to create a new AD forest and Exchange org and perform a full migration to the new environment. This is obviously quite a bit of work, so it might just be easier to leave the name as it is now. A lot of organizations have the same DNS namespace internally and externally. Why do you feel the need to change it? Tony

Thank you for your responses. I will read through the links you have listed and see if any of these options will work with my scenario.I also did want to clarify that I have a total of six servers; three old and three new. I am able to have the new domain on the new servers and still have the old servers operational at the same time. I have never done any procedure like this as of yet, but I am looking into the all tools available. Am I correct in that ADMT will only move the active directory form the old domain to the new one, and that ADMT does not assist in moving Exchange?Thanks again,Ryan
