Change domain name from .com to .local on Windows 2008 R2 with Exchange 2010.
Should I need to change an internal domain name (ettc.com) to (ettc.local) because I recently learned that when applying for a SSL certification for Exchange, that it was denied because (ettc.com) is taken by another registrar. Again, the internal domain is (ettc.com). Yet the Exchange 2010 SP2 server is hosting 3 different domain names that are not based on (ettc.com). Is there something I can do to fix this without having to blow away Exchange 2010 SP2 and have to spend hours cleaning out all the Exchange AD information and doing a reinstall, just because I changed a domain name from .com to .local??? Can I leave the (ettc.com) out of the SSL process and use another one of the domains that Exchange will be handling mail for?? I certainly hope so.. If I have to completely blow away Exchange 2010 SP2 and reinstall and get mailbox databases recreated, I'm going to be setback a month+... Please help!!!

Hello, domain rename with Exchange 2010 is NOT supported, so it must be exported to .pst and uninstalled prior. For Exchange please use the Exchange server forum: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/exchangeserver/Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.
