Certificates signed by issuing CA and Certificates Self signed - Windows 2008 Certificate Services
I have a Windows 2008 Issuing Certificate Services server, in a two tiered configuration. My stand-alone RootCA is off. From my server I am loading MMC \Certificates \Personal and Request a certificate. I then pull up my web template which is a duplicate of my Web template that was created with my installation of Certificate Services. The certificate is produced and applied to my server. Can I produce a signed and a self signed certificate this way? My intent is to create a signed certificate, does the web template create it as a signed cert or self signed?

The certificate you requested and installed (if the request was processed successfully) on your server using the web template is already signed by your issuing CA and there is no need to generate any self signed certificate. /Hasain
