Certificate Services Physical to Virtual Migration
Hi, We have 2 tier Windows Certificate Authority services running on Windows 2003. We have one offline root CA and one Sub-ordinate issuing CA. The users in the organisation are using certificates for EFS. The Sub-ordinate CA server in hosted on DELL 2950 server. We have VM Ware Infrastructure in place and we are planning to move the SUB CA server from Physical box to Virtual VM. We are using the tool Vcentre Converter to do this Physical to Virtual Migration. Please suggest if there will be any issue on the server after this migration. Also what are the tools which I can use to find the health of my certificate services. Thanks

if you keep the same CA name and CA host name, then there should not be any issues. Otherwise, use CA migration guide: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee126170(WS.10).aspx I would suggest to migrate CA server to VM, it is quite easy.My weblog: http://en-us.sysadmins.lv PowerShell PKI Module: http://pspki.codeplex.com Windows PKI reference: on TechNet wiki
