Cant start exchange services, cant run executables. Possible virus?
Here is a fun one for yall. I have a windows server 2008 SP1 running Exchange Server 2007 SP1. The client called because exchange server was not running. I have been unable to get the services for exchange to start, they timeout. Upon review other services non-related to Exchange won't start. I cant run Windows Update, i get an error code preventing me. Could be corruption? Thinking it might be some corruption, i ran SFC, but it didnt find any issues. I tried to install Windows 2008 SP2, installer won't run, says the file is corrupt (downloaded several times) Tried to install Windows Installer 4.5, won't run says wrong OS type. So then I thought, maybe its a virus? Ran Bit Defender Rescue CD and it found 8 viruses and removed them. However its not any better. Can't run MalwareBytes Can't run Hijackthis Can't run Threatfire Was able to run Hitman Pro Cloud version but it didnt detect anything bad. I've been in IT for 20 years, and If this is a virus this would be the first time I have not been able to clean it. Does anyone else have any ideas I could try before I determine I have been beat by a virus? Brad Nelson MCSE/DCSE/A+/Network+/WCSP

Update: After I installed a new Harddrive and installed a new OS, i couldnt run windows updates. I decided it might be a hardware issue, I called Dell. Dell beleives its a hardware issue. They are replacing some parts and we will see if that fixes the issue. I'll keep you updated on the progress. Brad Nelson MCSE/DCSE/A+/Network+/WCSP
