Cant show subnet view in 08 DNS?
Ok, what am I missing here. Running Windows 7 X64 Pro. Installed the 08 tools pack. Now when I open DNS and goto my Reverse Addresses section, I used to be able to click Advanced under view and it would change from subnet view to FQDN view. Now when
I do this, all it does it refresh and I can no longer see the reverse entries in subnet view. Everything is backwards.
Is that normal now or am I missing something.
thanks-chris

Sorry for this question: Have you any reverse records? (Default AD W2K8R2 installation with DNS postinstallation creates none.)

Yes. I have all the same zones in reverse as forward if thats what you mean. If I go into each zone and sirt by name the records in reverse are fine they look like Name, type, Data, Timestamp. However in the main tree on the left, for reverse all the zones
show as x.x.in-addr.arpa format. Unchecking the advanced option under View just refreshed and doesnt revert the view back to x.x.x.x subnet.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for posting here.
We can’t reproduce the phonemic you descripted in our lab. Just like to confirm that have connected to the correct remote DNS server when establish MMC console.
Can you also reproduce it on that DNS server?
Have you patched the service pack 1 for your windows 7 client host ? just make sure installed the latest version remote administrator tools on client and try again

Thanks. I tried again. I RDP's into a new 08R2 server that I built yesterday. If I use the local DNS tools in Admin Tools, or if I use the MMC snapin for DNS I get the same thing. I click on reverse lookup zones and everything is displayed as 132.128.10.in-addr.arpa
instead of 10.128.132.x subnet. If I uncheck the Advanced option in View the screen flashes like it is refreshing but the view does not change.
