Hi,

I get error "Package installation did not succeed. Try to install the Windows Server Essentials Connector again." when attempting to install Connector on Windows 10 10074 from Windows Server 2016 TP2.

Essentials components is working OK'ish in the server, or at least one old Windows 8.1 desktop was correctly backed up during last night to Windows Server 2016.

Error I see in logs is:

And manually trying to run the referenced update, I get error

How could I troubleshoot & fix this issue?

Hello,

I assume the connector isn't running on Windows 10 until now. In https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40285 it is listed up to Windows 8.1

Well, it's getting Windows8.2-KB2790621-x64.msu from the server, pointing it is later than 8.1.

Both server and client are also TP 10074, so I guess my question is if Connector _should_ work with these builds, or is it a known issue it's not yet supposed to even work.

According to your description, my understanding is that Essentials Connector is failed to be installed on Windows 10.

Windows8.2-KB2790621-x64.msu is still not available on Microsoft Download Center. Windows8.1-KB2790621-x64.msu is the latest version so far.

Yes, your understanding is correct, Essentials Connector fails to install on Windows 10 as I explained in my original post. However, I do not understand how your comment related to MS Download Center relates to this issue as Download Center does not even contain Preview bits.

Windows8.2-KB2790621-x64.msu is included with the Windows Server 2016 TP2. It fails to install, that is the problem.
