Cannot Log on to Server 2008 R2...currently no logon servers availabe to service your logon request
School server is Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard. I only have one server and is running as the DC for the school's domain
I had restarted my school server after I had uninstalled a program.
After restart it asked me for recovery option, since I had no system state backup, I continued with reboot to, "Last Known Good Configuration".
After the reboot was complete, I tried logging in to the server as administrator under our domain.
Example: domain name\administrator with correct password. The error received was and still is;
"There are currently no logon servers available to service your logon request".
I am able to log in as the local administrator, but need to have my domain available for school computers to have access to network.
The only domain role that will run on the local side of the school's DC is DHCP.
I need to be able to log in as the domain administrator to start services like;
active directory users and computers
dns
Without DNS running on the domain side all users cannot see their user data or login to school computers because DNS is not running.
There are a few online articles, but no known resolutions.

Hello,
how is it possible that you have a DC and you open a session using a local administrator account.
If you are unable to logon on a DC as an administrator and you have no backup then I don't see a way to solve your problem and I can confirm that your domain is lost.
Please explain what happened exactly and which account you are using to logon.

I installed a new backup program and it froze (hang) then I stopped the program using task manager and performed and uninstall of the program. Reboot to complete the installation and then all this happened. (as stated above)
I'm being very optimistic in finding a solution, so I don't have to recreate my domain.
I am currently logged in as is:
(Local machine)\Administrator (which is the local administrator user account for this server).

How could it be possible that you are logged to a DC using a local account???
Are you sure that this is a DC?
Looks like that you demoted the DC.

I AM LOGGED IN TO THE DOMAIN CONTROLLER USING THE LOCAL ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT.
EVERY TIME I TRY TO LOG IN USING THE DOMAIN ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT I GET THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE..."THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO LOGON SERVERS AVAILABLE TO SERVICE THE LOGON REQUEST".
I AM THE ADMINISTRATOR. LOL...AND I AM SURE THIS IS A DOMAIN CONTROLLER.
I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THIS HAPPENED...ALL I DID WAS RESTART AFTER UNINSTALLING A PROGRAM.
THERE IS ONE THING THAT I HAVE NOTICED AFTER LOOKING AT THE DOMAIN ADMINISTRATOR FILES, THE SECURITY RIGHTS TO THE FOLDER SHOW THAT THE ADMINISTRATOR IS LISTED AS AN UNKNOWN ACCOUNT (S-1-5-21-147460401-1808071772-1513478450-500). I'M NOT SURE IF THIS IS
THE NORM WHILE LOGGED IN TO THE LOCAL ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT THE DOMAIN ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT SECURITY SHOWS THAT WAY...DUNNO.
WELL, I'M CALLING MICROSOFT...PAYING FOR IT. I HOPE THEY CAN HELP ME.
THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSE'

Hi,
Can you remotely logged on to the affected domain controller and can you ping it?

I can only remote to the domain controller using the server local administrator account.
I ran HijackThis on the server and this is what I came up with. The unknown account is and administrator account
