You cant run Terminal Services in app mode in sbs. Read this doco : http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/thankyou.aspx?familyId=1165f2c9-7e08-4b43-92fe-bb965d17b3b4&displayLang=en You should either buy another box, or if budget is tight, run a VM in Virtual Server, although another server license is required. If you google it, there are people that have gotTS to work in SBS with reg hacks, but they have had issues with display drivers and alike, and it is not supported.

Hello Dash14 Let's start over. We have two servers. One is running SBS 2003 and the other is Server 2003 w/TS. We installed the system months ago. At the time, we realized that we didn't have our TS license but TS comes up in a trial mode and that worked. The customer isn't using the TS but during a normal service call we realized our mistake. The trial license has expired. We contacted our supplier and Microsoft and got the TS license number. We cannot log into the app server at all. My best guess is that we put the licensing server on the app server. That was a bad idea. I have added the licensing server to the SBS server and guess what, it wants a disk. Did I mention the customer is 250 miles away? So when I get SP2 downloaded, I will try again.

First of all, I would like to confirm that it is possible to install terminal license service on the Application server. However, if a terminal license server is not installed on the domain controller you need to refer to the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article to point the preferred terminal license server: How to override the license server discovery process in Windows Server 2003 Terminal Services http://support.microsoft.com/?id=279561 In addition, the license mode of the Terminal Server, and the type of Terminal Server CALs installed on the License Server must match for client machines to use permanent licenses. Otherwise, TS clients will get temporary TS CALS. Please perform the following steps to ensure that the Licensing Mode in Terminal Services Configuration is set to the type that matches the TS CALs installed on the Terminal License server. 1. Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Terminal Services Configuration. 2. Click Server Settings, and then double-click Licensing Mode. 3. Ensure the license mode matches what you have purchased. For more information, please refer to the following whitepaper: Guidelines for Deploying Terminal Services http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/techinfo/overview/quickstart.mspx
