I can not load a web page using the page name while I can load it using the IP address. There is no fire wall. This is browser independent (IE and FF) and router independent. For example typing www.google.com goes nowhere, while typing 64.233.169.99 loads the google page. However, clicking on anything will go nowhere.Using Win XP sp2. The problem apparently started after sp3 was installed although this is not clear.

Check your DNS if the correct root hints are configured.
