Can Limitlogin work through windows firewall?
Hi AM just looking at rolling out limitlogin to some of my clients and i've seen from posts that windows fireall has to be didsabled when doing setup to allow the logoff VBS to run accordingly. I was wondering if the firewall can then be re-enabled or if there are exceptions/ports that can be added into the firewall as i really need to have the firewall enabled. I primarily have 2003 DC's & XP clients. Thanks in advance. Mike.

Hello, Thank you for your post here. I never had the test but I think LimitLogin can work smoothly with Windows Firewall because it count on the Web service as XML (SOAP) for the communication between limitlogin web service and the client (logon script). You don't have incoming Port 80 blocked. Right? If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Hiya, thanks for your reply. It does seem to work ok whe firewall is enabled(although remote logoff etc do not work) but you seem to have to disable the firewall when doing the initial setup and then can re-enable it after it's installed - bit odd. I guess i would need to create a GPO to disable firewall, deploy client, re-enable firewall, set logon/logoff scripts.regards, Mike.
