Can I install roll-up update 6 directly on 2012 r2 scvmm RTM? Have you seen any issues if you skip the previous roll-ups?

Ideally, the latest roll-up should include all the previous fixes too?

If i have deployed new scvmm 2012 R2 RTM, can i directly deploy roll-up 6?

Or, should i start from U1-2-3-4-5 and then 6? Are there are any known issues if you skip directly to the latest?

There are not many articles describing the sequence to follow for the rollups.

Hi,

you don't have to install previous update rollups and you can go directly with UR6. the reason for this is that the Update Rollup is a cumulative set of fixes and the files are just updated to the newest versions.

Microsoft has even defined what Update Rollup is:

From
Description of the standard terminology that is used to describe Microsoft software updates
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/824684

"Definition: A tested, cumulative set of hotfixes, security updates, critical updates, and updates that are packaged together for easy deployment."

Hope this helps.

So, ideally we need not apply any scripts for sql if we update directly to rollup 6 which comes in previous roll ups for 2012 R2?

I just did this in my demo environment and searched high and low for SQL scripts due to the history and never found any.

Everything has been working so far.
