Can't find Remote Server Administration Tools under Programs...
Hi folks,

I'm running the 7100 RC of Windows 7, x64. I have downloaded and installed the RSAT (Remote Server Admin Tools), the correct verison for the 64 bit version of the RC (Windows6.1-KB958559-x64).

I go to enable the admin tools by going to Control Panel > Programs > Turn Windows Features On or Off - I look in this menu but can not find a line that reads Remote Server Administrator Tools. It should be between Remote Differential Compression and RIP Listener, but it's not there.

Any ideas?

I've restarted twice.

Thanks!

Hi
Please install the following RSAT

·
Microsoft Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 7 RC (x64): http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/F/C/1FC27A82-15D9-4D93-B3BC-24204175F9DF/Windows6.1-KB958830-x64.msu

After installing it, you can enable the roles and features you want to manage, by doing the following steps:

  1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Programs.
  2. In the Programs and Features area, click Turn Windows features on or off.
  3. If you are prompted by User Account Control to enable the Windows Features dialog box to open, click Continue.
  4. In the Windows Features dialog box, expand Remote Server Administration Tools.
  5. Select the remote management tools that you want to install.
  6. Click OK.
    Thanks...

Hi,
You have to do some additional steps to display the tools on Start menu.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc731420(WS.10).aspx

Displaying Administrative Tools

If you installed RSAT on Windows Vista with SP1 and you want to access the tools from the Start menu, you may have to configure the computer to display the tools.

To configure the Start menu to display the Administrative Tools shortcut
  1. Right-click Start, and then click Properties.

  2. On the Start Menu tab, click Customize.

  3. In the Customize Start Menu dialog box, scroll down to System administrative tools, and then click Display on the All Programs menu and the Start menu.

  4. Click OK.

The Administrative Tools shortcut on the Start menu will have links to the graphical administration tools for Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS). The command line tools, such as Dsquery and Repadmin, will also be available at a Command Prompt.

Hope that helps,
