Can't add computer to local group
Hi, I am trying to configure two servers for forwarding and collecting events. Both servers are running Windows Server 2008 R2. Like written in http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc748890.aspx, I want to add the server account of the collector server to the Event Log Readers Group on the source server. It is also written, that by default it is not enabled to add computer accounts, but when I click the Object Types button to select the Computers check box there are only check boxes for Built-in security principals and Users. Are there any additional configurations that have to be made for this? Thanks for your efforts.

make sure that you have your domain selected as location and not your local computer

it sounds like you are in a workgroup environment, did you see the last point of additional considerations in the article you linked? in a workgroup environment, you cant use computer accounts from other pc's

Hi, It seems that the servers are in a workgroup. If the servers are in a domain, you need to add the computer account of the collector computer to the local Administrators group on each of the source computers. If in a workgroup, you need to follow the instructions under “Additional Considerations”. Please note that “You must add an account with administrator privileges to the Event Log Readers group on each source computer. You must specify this account in the Configure Advanced Subscription Settings dialog when creating a subscription on the collector computer”. Please update us the results. Thanks.
