Can't access smtp outbound from a Win Server 2008 system-seems to be firewall.
I'm having an issue sending any smtp traffic from a Windows Server 2008 system. If I set the firewall to log dropped packets, I can see that the outbound smtp traffic is being dropped, but I can't get the connections to work even if I turn off the firewall
totally. Any ideas what could be happening. Let me know if you need more information.
Thanks
Tony

If I understand correctly you're trying to send smtp traffic from the Windows 2008 server, but it's being dropped by the built in firewall on the same Win 2008 machine? By default Windows 2008 firewall allows all outbound traffic. You can make
changes to these settings in server manager> configuration> windows firewall with advanced security.

Thanks for the help. I've beed struggling with this for 3 days. As it turns out, it wasn't the firewall, but the local AV that was blocking the traffic.
Thanks for your help.
