Can't Start Firewall Service
Hi, anybody can help me? I have server 2003 R2 Standard AD. i try to click Windows Firewall Settings on Local are connection properties, i got the error message - Windows firewall cannot run because another program or service is running that might use the network address translation cmponent (Ipnat.sys). when i try to start Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS), i got that error message - Could not start the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service on Local Computer. Error 170: the request rsource is in use. Thanks in advance. wekhine. wekhine

Hello, it seems that there is another program using Ipnat.sys driver. Please stop all running programs and check again. If this does not help, disable all security softwares that you are using, run msconfig and disable all startup items except Microsoft ones, reboot the server and check again. Hi wekhine, Thank you for your post. If you configured RRAS or ISA in your server, Windows firewall will disabled automatically. If you want to enable& run Windows firewall, you need to stop RRAS or ISA. Regards, Rick Tan
