Browsing Problem
I have 2 networks in my domain with a CISCO L3 switch doing the routing
when I am on one of them I cannot browes the network.... I can manualy map drives using eithe IP or Netbios name
but the browse button there on the map drive window and if I try to use Network Places they both give me
The doamin is not available or you do not have permission...go see you administrator.......
I have then logged in as THE administrator ..still same result..so I do not thing pemissions is atthe root of this
Help ?

If they are running on seperate subnets you would need a WINS server since NetBios is not a routable protocol.
Make sure your servers are not multi-homed as well which means you should only have one NIC enabled

Hi,
Please check your switch to make sure broadcasts is working because browsing relies on broadcasting.
If the issue still occur, this a very good guide to troubleshoot browser service. It’ long, please be patient to follow instructions to narrow down the cause.

I had justrun the netdiag command to test the browser all wasgood except the following ..any ideas what is going on ? thanks

Hello All,
If I go to
MY NETWORK PALCES --> entire network .....
I see all the devices in my domain (which is composed of 3 networks, not subnets ) so it appears to be browsing ok ? not sure why I can see these devices in there but still get that error outlined
above from the netdaig tests
