BranchCache folder rename issue :(

Hi!

We implemented BC in distributed mode few time ago and discovered not very nice issue :(

  1. User A creates folder F on BC enabled file share and puts file into it.
  2. User B modifies the file user A created in step 1.
  3. Then user A modifies the same file again and in the end renames folder to F2!
  4. Now user B on tries to rename the folder back from F2 to F and gets error "File or folder does no exist!

It seems like folder F2 is in local cache for user B and thats the reason user cannot change the folder. After offline cache cleanup user B can again rename tha folder. User B can open the folder, modify files in it etc,. but cannot rename the folder anymore :(

Any hints how to overcome?

Can you reproduce this with 2 new user accounts?

If the issue only occurs on specific accounts, it could be an offline cache corrupt issue. Refer to this article for Windows 7 systems to delete cached data and see if issue could be fixed:
