Blue Icons in Add/Remove Programs
In Add/Remove programs on Windows 2003 Server there are blue question-mark (?) icons against the following framework items: Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 Microsoft .Net Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2 I have installed Microsoft NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 (Full Package) plus hot fixes: Microsoft update for the .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 - NDP20SP2-KB958481-x86.exe; Microsoft update for the .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2 - NDP30SP2-KB958483-x86.exe; Microsoft update for the .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 - NDP35SP1-KB958484-x86.exe But the blue icons remain. Can anyone explain what the blue icons signify and how to get rid of them? Thanks

I'd run through the verification steps. http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/10/13/8999004.aspx Regards, Dave Patrick .... Microsoft Certified Professional Microsoft MVP [Windows] Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

They may know more here about the framework issue. http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/netfxsetup/threads Might ask them here about the SQL Server setup issue. http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/sqlsetupandupgrade/threads Regards, Dave Patrick .... Thanks Dave. Ran all Framework Verifier Tool tests on all versions and they all passed without errors; then ran Framework Repair Tool which appeared to fix some problems but not the blue question-mark icons which still persist. Not sure if its related but recently installed Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 - Express Edition which generated the following errors in the Error Log: .NET Runtime Optimization Service (clr_optimization_v2.0.50727_32) - Failed to compile: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Binn\VSShell\Common7\Tools\VDT\DataProjects.dll . Error code = 0x8007000b .NET Runtime Optimization Service (clr_optimization_v2.0.50727_32) - Failed to compile: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Binn\VSShell\Common7\Tools\VDT\DataDesigners.dll . Error code = 0x8007000b There a lot of discussion of the above DataProjects.dll and DataDesigners.dll errors on the web but so far no fixes.
