Black screen with mouse cursor
I've seen several posts about this issue but none of the solutions seem to work for us.
HP ML110 server with 2008 Server Standard SP2, latest updates installed.
When rebooting, after the BIOS and post-BIOS screen, the server hangs on a black screen with a visible mouse pointer that can be moved. After 10-15 minutes or so the system boots to the login screen.
When checking the eventlogs we see nothing happening during that time period, I've attached screenshots of the app and system eventlogs with a 10 minute gap. The bootlog isn't much help either since it doesn't log a timestamp when loading drivers but there's
nothing strange in that log either.
Things we've tried so far, some of these tips were found in these forums:
Removed all Shadow Copies from the OS drive.Checked that the RPC service is running under the Network Service account....it is.
Any ideas what maybe happening here?
Thanks,

Hi did you tried this:
At the DOS prompt, enter REGEDIT. This will open the Registry Editor. Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\MountedDevices. Look for the values named \DosDevices\drive letter:. We need to find the boot partitions drive letter. It will usually be assigned
the first available drive letter after C: From the command prompt, perform a directory listing of each drive letter after C: until you find the drive with the \Windows and \Users directories. This is the real C: drive. Note its drive letter.
In Registry Editor, rename the value \DosDevices\C: to \DosDevices\J: (or any other available letter). Next rename the value representing the real C: drive to \DosDevices\C:.
Reboot your computer and youre all set. We still attempting to determine whats causing this, but following these steps will get a Windows server having this issue up and running promptly.

Hi, thanks for your reply, I read that article but don't think this is the issue, the system wouldn't boot at all if it tried to boot from the System reserved partition. As you can see from the eventlog screenshots it is actually booting from the windows
partition, the Filter Manager starts some filters, the network card is initialised and then the system holds for 10 minutes.
