Bitlocker & VMWare
Hi, We are aware of the Hyper-V & Bitlocker support. But, is Bitlocker supported if the VM is running in VMWare? Is bitlocker supported if the VM is running in Virtual PC or Virtual Server? Rgrds, SK

You need to keep in mind that there's really nothing special in the whitepaper that describes using Hyper-V and Bitlocker. Once the parent OS is booted and running, the BitLocker protected drive is unlocked and the fact that the drive is BitLocker protected is essentially transparent to any application that needs to access data files on the protected drive. It really doesn't matter whether or not that application happens to be Word, Outlook, Paint, or a virtualization technology, all the application is doing is accessing a data file on a protected volume. You've got your question about VMware and VPC/VS backwards. It isn't a matter of whether or not Bitlocker is supported, it is whether or not the application is supported when accessing data files on a Bitlocker protected volume. For the VMware question, you'd need to ask VMware that, for VPC and VS, there's no reason for them not to be supported when storing VHD files on a protected drive. As above, the protection is transparent to the application. Paul Adare CTO IdentIT Inc. ILM MVP
