We are planning to setup a Hortonworks cluster on Microsoft Azure. While setting up the cluster I am selecting HortownWorks Data Platform under Virutal Machines, I do not see anywhere if they are powered on Windows platforms or on Linux OS?

One more thing I noticed is : On the billing related webpage, it is written that billing is done per minute basis (unlike Amazon's hourly basis) but when I open the account related pages or other pages, I see the rates per month basis. I am unable to comprehend if the billing is done on monthly, hourly or monthly basis.

Could you please help in understanding these two doubts.

Hi,

Hortonworks is Linux based platform.

We charge for the number of minutes your virtual machine is running, rounded to the nearest minute, not hour.

Billing page shows per hour, but you will be billed for minute.
