Beginner
I'm brand new to this stuff so bare with me if this sounds elementary. A while ago I designed a website using Visual Studio 2005 on my personal laptop. It uses the login provided by visual studio and a microsoft access database to hold a set of records. A few months later I was able to move this website onto a computer with Windows XP Pro, as well as install SQL 2005 so that users can log in and see information provided to their roles. I program in C#. Now I am being asked to migrate this website to a server. I selected Windows small business server 2008 Premium. I have installed the software on the server, as well as put my web folders on the server. I go into IIS Manager, where I added a site, click the browse button (its on port 5002), and the default login page loads fine. However when I enter my username and password the following Error shows up: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) I ran into this issue with the Computer with XP Pro and was able to fix it by going into SQL Sub Surface Area Connection, Allowing Remote access, but on my server its not working. It almost seems like the changes don't take effect. I have tried everything I know of (which is very little since Im just starting out). If anyone has any solutions for this I would greatly appreciate it.
