Baselines/Baseline content
I keep hearing the term "baseline" when it comes to windows desktops/servers. In terms of desktops (and servers for that matter) what things are included in this baseline, and is this baseline just a document? Is it solely security settings (can you detail which), or can there be other things outside of security that carry a degree of risk if they are not in compliance with such a baseline? Can you provide an example? Can you have a baseline when you have devices using different OS's? I.e. 500 workstations running XP and 2000 running win 7, do you have to have one baseline for one OS and one for the other, or can it be one baseline for each? An example baseline would help put it into better context, but your comments will likely be more helpful than links. And what, in a nutshell, is they key risk for not having such a baseline on desktops/servers...

Hello, "keep hearing the term "baseline" when it comes to windows desktops/servers." Where did you hear it in detail? DO you talk about security configuration settings on the local machines applied with security configuration wizard?Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.
