Hi I am setting up a network environment with different devices and running several applications over both the LAN and WAN. i would like to monitor real time bandwidth utilization of the various applications across the network, can system center handle this?

SCOM isn't a real-time monitoring tool.

You can add a custom rule and create a view for network adapter performance :

 Better suggestion is please use "SolarWind" tool to get it accurate usages..
