Backup Target
Windows 7 backup feature for Professional and higher allow the use of a network server as a backup target. So given a plethora of disparate users in the server,
At present I do not have AD or anything operating. I was considering simple user accounts on the server.
This way each user is secure from the other.

Hello,
if you like to use backup for clients without server shares for data use Windows Home server, which should be able to backup the complete machines of the user.Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

Hello,
you can configure a shred folder and also configure local user accounts to use a share for profile storing, so the answer is yes. Access to the share must be of course configured with Share/NTFS permissions.Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.
