Backup 2003 CA - Restore 2008 CA with the same name
Hi cloud of wisdom,I am doing an AD upgrade from Windows 2003 to Windows 2008 and I am facing one limitation with one Certification Authority I have on one of the Domain Controllers.Basically, one DC is also Enterprise CA. This DC is running Windows Server 2003 32 bits, and I have plans to demote this machine and promote a brand new server with Windows Server 2008 64 bits. This new server will have the same computer name.Does anyone done this before. Is the 2003 backup compatible with Windows 2008 CA restore when both servers have the same name???Any suggestion or comment will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!http://xna-para-torpes.blogspot.com Your Spanish site about XNA !

Yes, you can backup in Server 2003 and restore to Server 2008 (64-bit as well)I would recommend not installing the DC role on the new server, never a good idea to mix the two roles.Brian

Thank you both for the information. I have been reviewing the guide Joson suggested and, indeed, it seems that that migration procedure is supported. Thanks again!http://xna-para-torpes.blogspot.com Your Spanish site about XNA !
