BSOD on Shutdown 0x000000fe
I was reformating my computer and when the first step was done I got a BSOD with the STOP 0x000000FE Bugcode_Usb_Driver, It finished reformating but everytime it restarted i got the BSOD again. Now, my computer is super slow and everytime I put my computer to sleep, shut down or restart the screen goes black for like a minute and then it restarts and when I reach the desktop I get a message saying "Windows recovered from unexpected shutdown", it doesnt let me shut the computer down from the desktop. Also when I go on Safe Mode and shutdown or restart the computer I get the blue screen. I have requested the hotfix and when I entered the password to unzip the file it said "error 40" or something like that. I try to install updates to my computer but most fail at installing, and it takes forever to open a file or web page, it's really laggy. Its a toshiba 32 bit, with windows service pack 1. Can you help me fix it?

I try to install updates to my computer but most fail at installing, and it takes forever to open a file or web page, it's really laggy. For unzipping the file, I recommand to you to use WinZip: http://www.winzip.com/downwz.htm Try to install the hotfix I gave you (If your os is windows xp) and check if your problem is solved or not. Once done, check if you've got the same problems with updates. If yes, please post the last 40-50 lines of windowsupdate.log file. Microsoft has come up with a hot fix, for this error message. To help your self go to this page & request for the hotfix: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/930568 Have a look to this link, it is for someone who had a similar problem: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistahardware/thread/13172ae7-44d6-4790-9b07-c7080908eb38 This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

This is an old article, from before Vista SP1 (the current is SP2), so the hotfix probably won't do you any good (as it probably contains an older version than you have if you have SP1 or SP2 installed). I would recommend starting by updating all of the drivers for the system. I also don;t see any reason for using Winzip as modern versions of Windows can natively read all of the formats used by Microsoft to compress files. You may want to detach all of the USB devices and see if you can isolate the issue to a single port or to another device, such as a USB hub. I may be able to get more information for you from the dump files that were generated in C:\Windows\Minidump as part of the crash. If you want to post them to skydrive, http://mikemstech.blogspot.com/2010/08/skydrive-uploading-files-for-community.html I can take a look and see if I can provide any other useful information. Note that Microsoft does not provide debugging support in the forums, so any help that you receive will be from other community members. Hi, Please upgrade your system to Windows SP2 to see whether you get the same issue. By the way, according to the description, the issue seems to be related to Windows Vista. As we mainly focus on the General question about Windows Server system and here is not the best support resource for Windows Vista, it is recommend you to get further support in the corresponding community so that you can get the most qualified pool of respondents. Thanks for your understanding. For your convenience, I have list the related link as followed.
