The notification for the August Azure maintenance windows impacts Virtual Machines and Cloud Services.  Otherwise all indications and links point specifically to VMs and none for Cloud Services.  We are using web roles for cloud services and question if these will be included in the maintenance?  Just looking for clarification.

Yes, Cloud service and VM all will be in the maintenance.  The reason for shown the VM links is what if you would like to guarantee 99.95% Azure SLA for your VM, you need set the availability set. So if you used cloud service, those links doesn't require too much of your concern.
