Assign static (reserved) public VIP to existing cloud service/VM

Azure introduced the static VIP option, great!
I've read the documentation on this: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/dn690120.aspx

However, this only explains on how to create a NEW cloud service/VM with a static / reserved IP.
I already have a few services running. How can I assign a static/reserved IP to an existing cloud service?
I can't seem to find any documentation on how to do this.

Any tips/advice?

Hi,

At this moment, we dont support the ability to reserve the IP address of an existing cloud service. However, it is a very critical scenario and we are working on this functionality. We expect to announce support for this sometime in the near future.

Since it was "very critical" more than six months ago, I was wondering if there are any news on this front?

My scenario is simple: existing cloud service (no affinity group), VMs were carefully kept online so as to not lose the public virtual IP, but it would be nice to officially reserve that VIP.

Thanks!
