Applying Group Policy Printers policy...Slow Login

Hi

Our organisation seems to be experiencing problems with Intermittent Slow Logins.

It started the day following a print server migration - we migrated from Windows Server 2003 to 2008 R2

The setup is a VDI environment with VMware linked-clone desktops, DC is Win Svr 2012 (not r2), desktops are Win 7

Users are logging in using Teradici Zero-Clients

The current symptoms are:

  • When the user logs in intermittently they are faced with Welcome Screen - if they remain connected it logs them in after a delay of exactly 1 hour
  • Enabling high detailed messages shows the screen is suck on Applying Group Policy Printers policy...
  • Enabling the GPSVC.log file with detailed logging 030002 I get the following - as you can see at 08:15:54:826 - 08:25:57:786 there is no info?????:

Hi,

Based on the description, how did we configure the printer deployment settings, under Computer Configure or User Configuration? If it's under User Configuration, if possible, we can try to change to deploy the printers under Computer Configuration, which means the setting will apply to all the users logging onto the targeted computers and will be processed before they log in . Besides,  what action did we choose when configuring the printer deployment? We should avoid using Replace and choose to use Update when deploying printers via GPP Printer extension.

Best regards,

Frank Shen
