Antivirus solutions.
We are about ready to dump Symantec and use another solution. FEP is now out of the question due to licensing difficulties. What other solutions has everyone had actual experience with? Ease of centralized management, stability, good reporting, easy installation, and good performance is about what we want. :) Main use will be file\OS level type protection on a few hundred window servers(2003-2008).

Hello, You can try using TrenMicro like JM suggested. You can also try Microsoft Security essentials but AFAIK this can not be centrally managed. There is other party softwares that may interest you but there is no other Microsoft solution that I can suggest other than MSE and FEP. I will take a closer look at TrendMicro and G Data. I have heard others had good experiences with TrendMicro in Exchange but didnt know about actual server protection. We are looking for something that runs without bugs and performance issues and is manageable. MS Security Essentials is only licensed for free home use and only up to 10 seats in a small business. Its great for home use but it not targeted as a company product. FEP which is a company product, is only licensed in a package of other products for a good sum. I would love to use FEP but you cant just license\buy the AV protection only.

I havent worked with TrandMicro but I have worked with FEP and NOD32 and others. From my experience I used to be a FEP fan until I had 3 scenarios with 3 virus infections on fully updated software,AV. I removed FEP and ran NOD32 and it found and removed the "threat" every time. It's just my opinion. MCTS - Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Symantec is what we have now. We have many reasons why we want to get away from Symantec but we want to move to something that will better suit us. Good support is a big plus as not any AV out there can catch all virus but if you can get help and updated definition right away that adds a lot of value.

I've had a lot of experience using McAfee VirusScan as the Endpoint on both Client Workstations and Servers. Throw into the mix McAfee Groupshield (Exchange), PortalShield (Sharepoint) and the ePolicy Orchestrator for managing the Configuration and Deployment of the Endpoint Clients. It will also deploy the AntiVirus Policies, Scan Engine/Virus Definition Updates and allow you to automate all of these too. The reporting functionality of ePO is good and you can customise the reports fairly easily. It also allows you to configure it in the style of a Sharepoint Dashboard. The performance side is alot better IMO from what I've seen with Symantec however alot of the performance issues you get are normally down to poorly configured AV Policies. I've used this product since the early days when it was still owned by Network Associates on one of the largest IT Environments in the world (excess of 350K Users, 150K Workstationes and 5K Servers). Each of the Option all has its benefits and drawbacks - and a lot of the time will always come down to the cost.

We have ESET NOD32 for a couple of years. The management console is handy, and the client application consumes negligible amounts of system resources. AV performance is also good, didn't have any serious infections so far. ESET is also very competitive about the price if you buy the licenses for 2-3 years.www.oguzpastirmaci.com
