Anonymous user: Refiner panel shows an error after click on refiner link

Hello,

I've Setup a search page within a public web site collection (Publishing site) with full anonymous access. I've deactivated the setting "Require user remote Interfaces permission" for both Web-Application Auth.-Provider and for the Site Collection.

For authenticated users the search works as expected. The refiner are visible and the user can click and query based on the refiner entries.

For anonymous users the search Shows the refiner after the search is executed. But when the user clicks on one of the refiner links, the refiner Panel Shows only an error.

Please see attached screenshot.

The refiner is based on a TermStore. I've marked the property as "SAVED" for anonymous access.

Why is the click on the refiner link not working?

Any suggestions are welcome.

Hi Marc,

Did you do a full crawl after setting the managed property to save for anonymous users?

If not, please run a full crawl first and then search to see if the issue still occurs.

Please also check more error message from ULS log for further research.

Thanks,

Victoria

Hello Victoria,

thanks for your reply. Yes, I did a full crawl several times and I've set the managed property for save during the initial configuration.

I installed all latest updates/hotfixes and now I noticed a different behavior. In Internet Explorer the Refiner links are working for anonymous users! That is great! But in Firefox (latest version) the error still exist. I noticed that the URL is different in IE and FF. When I click on a refiner link I see this:

Internet Explorer 10:

http://XXX.DE/seiten/TestSearch.aspx#Default=%7B%22k%22%3A%22polizei%22%2C%22r%22%3A%5B%7B%22n%22%3A%22owstaxIdInhaltskategorisierung%22%2C%22t%22%3A%5B%22string(%5C%22%2300f793f9d-30c3-4165-929a-e7a02c6760c1%5C%22)%22%5D%2C%22o%22%3A%22and%22%2C%22k%22%3Afalse%2C%22m%22%3Anull%7D%5D%7D

Firefox:

http://XXX.DE/seiten/TestSearch.aspx#Default={%22k%22%3A%22polizei%22%2C%22r%22%3A[{%22n%22%3A%22owstaxIdInhaltskategorisierung%22%2C%22t%22%3A[%22string%28\%22%2300f793f9d-30c3-4165-929a-e7a02c6760c1\%22%29%22]%2C%22o%22%3A%22and%22%2C%22k%22%3Afalse%2C%22m%22%3Anull}]}

When I copy the above IE URL into FF the refiner Panel Shows the correct values - but after a click on a link the refiner Panel Shows the error again.

Due to the fact that the solution is for a huge public government website I must support all major browser.

Hi Marc,

The two URL are the same one, only some characters have been encoded in Internet Explorer but not in Firefox.

I tested the scenario per your post in my environment, however the refiner worked fine in Firefox.

I recommend to install the latest updates for Firefox to see if the issue still occurs.

Best regards,

Victoria

Hello Victoria,

thanks for your support. I had the latest Firefox installed. But now it is working in FF after I've deleted all Browser cache content.  Wonderful!

Regards,

Marc Andr
