Alternative SBS 2011 Install Methods
Hey everyone. I am attempting to install SBS 2011 on an IBM xSeries 366 server. This particular server has a DVD drive that does not support Dual-layer DVDs. As a result, I am unable to boot from a DVD to install the OS. The server also does not have any booting support via the USB ports (which ruined my efforts to boot from the bootable USB drive I created). The option to select "boot from USB" is not present in the BIOS. I am installing to clean hard drives that have no OS currently loaded on them. Has anyone else run into this situation? SBS 2011 is too large for a single-layer disc, and without support for dual-layer I can't just place the disc in the drive and boot setup. Any ideas? Are there other installation options available beside the "preinstalled" and "DVD" methods? Any and all ideas are welcome! Thank you. Twitch

IMO Change the DVD's drive. Cost a maximum of 20 buck, or use one from home or another server. All the time you will loose triing to find a solution will cost a lot more than 20 buck.MCP | MCTS 70-236: Exchange Server 2007, Configuring
