I have a file server with a huge amount of data, chkdsk is reporting some problems (no specifics) with the file system and that I have to use the F option to correct these problems. In order to fix the issues chkdsk has to dismount the volume. Experience tells me that chkdsk could take from several hours to several days, due to the size of the volume I cannot have chkdsk running for more than a day so I'm looking for an alternate solution or tool that can help me with this situation or at least a feasible way to calculate the amount of time that chkdsk would take to fix the problems. It is a Server Dell NF500 with a external dell enclosure MD3000, with windows 2003 enterprise. Any idea what tool I could use? Thanks

I opened a case with MS. Per MS engineer there is no alternate chkdsk tool created by MS. Also there is no way to calculate the amount of time chkdsk is going to take to fix the volume, that depends on the amount of damage.
