Alter default TTL for dynamically registered DNS records for 2012 R2 servers

I wish to alter the default TTL for DNS records for a couple of servers, but the registry value that I expected to change this doesn't appear to work.

I have tried setting a DWORD value called DefaultRegistrationTTL under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters, but this is having no effect after running ipconfig /registerdns or even a full server reboot.

Has anyone used this registry value on a 2012 R2 server and achieved the expected behaviour - or does anyone know what the equivalent value is in 2012 R2 if this is no longer valid?

Hi

I tested on my server and got the same result. And I have found it is related to group policy.

I configured TTL in local group policy editor and manually registered DNS record. The TTL of the record is the same as I configured.

If you are using GPO, configure it in Group Policy Mnagement Editor.

Here is the path:
Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Network\DNS Client\TTL set in the A and PTR records.
