Allowing a user to stop and start a Server service
Just to verify my steps to enable a remote user to stop\start a service on a server.
Open up a mmc console and add security templates.
Change the service (under Selected Services) to add in the remote user with full control.
Save the Template as say machinename.inf
Add Security Analysis and Configuration Add-in, create database, import template created above, then Analyse Computer (checking the service is "investigating"). Then finally Configure Computer.
Could someone please confirm this should only change the one service that I altered and nothing else?
Thanks
Steve

Hi,
The steps are OK. You can also use Group Policy to set security for system services. For more information, please refer to the following
article:
How to grant users rights to manage services in Windows 2000
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/288129/en-us
Note: The steps are similar in Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008.
Hope this helps.
