After installing Windows 2003 and Windows 7 get error - Windows cannot access the specified device path or file.
i had installed both windows 2003 and windows 7 in windows 2003 .firstly i had installed windows 2003 with sap after that i installed windows 7 after installing windows 7 i installed vlc and firefox and avg free antivirus and updated os and antivirus after rebooting the system in windows 7 i get this error windows cannot able to access the specified device path or file you might not have appropriate permission to access them

1. Try to disable the AV program and test connection. It may have been configured aggressively or exceptions are not set correctly. (I prefere MS Security Essentials. We have no problems with MSSE) 2. You have done too many steps to discover, wher the problem occured. Does the W7 worked correctly before installing software? 3. If the problem is starting from the very beginning of system configuration and W7 attempts to reach shared directory unsuccessfully, then try to force lower version of SMB to W7. http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2008/05/30/two-minute-drill-overview-of-smb-2-0.aspx

Hi, The issue seems to be UAC related. Have you tried disabling UAC temporarily to test? MartinIf you find my information useful, please rate it. :-)
