Advice needed for choosing the right protocol
Hi all, I need to send data to a FTP server and I'm forced to use sFTP(SSH File Transfer Protocol) I need to encrypt the data and the transport.Does the sFTP(SSH File Transfer Protocol) encrypts both data and transport or only data or transport? Which protocols do I need the to secure both data and the transport? SSH or SFTP or FTP over SSH? Thanks!Steve, http://sqlug.be/blogs/steves_sql_blog/default.aspx

to encrypt data and transport you may decide to use IPsec. For more information please refer to this article: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/network/bb531150.aspxhttp://www.sysadmins.lv

Looks nice. Thanks for the link! But you see, the thing is I cannot decide to choose for IPsec. I need one of those three: SSH or SFTP or FTP over SSH (or all of them, I don't know) Rgds,Steve, http://sqlug.be/blogs/steves_sql_blog/default.aspx

Looking to specifications, SSH is good solution in your case. sFTP just enrcrypts data.http://www.sysadmins.lv
