Administrative tools on a workgroup machine
Hi, From the problem description, I understand that you would like to use Administrative Tools on the Windows 7. You can install the Administration Tools pack on computers that are running the Windows 7 operating system, and use the Administration Tools pack to manage specific technologies on computers that are running either Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008, or, in some cases, Windows Server 2003. There are some links for your reference: Title: Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 7 URL: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee449475(WS.10).aspx Title: Installing or Removing Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 7 URL: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee449483(WS.10).aspx Title: Display Administrative Tools on the Windows 7 Start Menu URL: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/ff700232.aspx I hope the information provided above is helpful to you. Hi, You would like to manage users and computers while the desktop that is running the admin tools is not joined in domain. If the computer is not domain joined, you only could use the Administrative tools on the local computer. And the Administrative tools are based on the local PC. If you would like to manage the users and computers via the Administrative tools, you could use the Remote Desktop Services to make the administration easier.
