Admin Shares
We encounter admin shares failure on both domain controllers (Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise 64bit edition). The Admin Shares failure occurs when we run the risk and Health assessment program scoping tool for ADRAP. Please help me how to setup the admin shares to be successful when running the tool or is there a specific port or settings to be enbaled on the server.

Hello, ADRAP is normally run with Microsoft support technicians and therefore contact Microsoft support to solve problems with that tool.Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

Here is the way to setup admin shares Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe). Locate and click the following key in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters\AutoShareServer Either change the value of the AutoShareServer key to 1 or delete the value. NOTE: If the AutoShareServer key is set to 0, administrative shares (such as C$, D$, Admin$, and so on) cannot be created automatically. Quit Registry Editor. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318755http://www.virmansec.com/blogs/skhairuddin
