Adding Comment While Acknowleding Alert in SCOM

Hello All,

I have SCOM 2012 R2 in place. I am leading Monitoring Operations Team and the responsibility of the team is to monitor the alerts and intimate the L2 team to act on the alert. After Alert intimation to L2 I have to Acknowledge the Alert on the SCOM Tool.

While Acknowledging the alert I wanted to put the comments/Remark based on the feedback from L2. Kindly confirm whether it is feasible to document Alert while Acknowledging the alert in SCOM Tool

In the alert's properties on the history tab, you can add comments there. In the general tab of properties you can also add the owner and ticket id if needed.

Thanks for your quick response.

at present we are tracking Ignored alerts with manual Approach. The objective is to put comment stating "Ignore Alert" and end of the day getting this information reflected/Extracted in a SQL Report.

Kindly confirm whether the same can be achieved.

I'd take a look at creating your own custom resolution states -

This will be easier to report on and will show in the console in a more user friendly  manner.
