Adding 64bit printer drivers on 32bit server
I'm doing a printer migration from 2003 R2 32bit servers(2) to one 2008 R2 server. I have a total of 181 printers to migrate. I am at the point where I need to add 64bit printer drivers for existing printers on the source server, that have 32bit drivers installed. Method #1: - on the source server I right-click on a printer go to Properties>Shares>Additional Drivers - if x64 is not checked off, I click on that to check it off, and click on OK - then I click on the Browse button and browse to a CD with Server 2003 64, and browse to AMD64\NTprint.inf But at that point I get the error "The specified location does not contain the driver "driver name" for the requested processor architecture. I'm assuming it's because 32bit was checked off, and it's looking for that? Method #2: - go to Print Server Properties>Drivers tab on the source server - click on Add>Next - uncheck x86 and check x64>Next - click on Have Disk and browse to the NTprint.inf file on the 2003 64bit CD - click on Next>Finish But when I go back to the printer that I just installed the driver for and look at Properties>Sharing>Additional Drivers, x64 is not checked off. Why isn't the driver showing up as being installed?
