Add Win2008R2 to Win2000 / Win2003 Domain
Hy all,
this is my situation:
1 Domain, 3 site an 3 Replica Domain Controllers (one for site).
The first DC is a Win2000 server SP4 (all 5 FSMO), two years ago I've added 2 DC with Win2003R2 (DC, GC, DNS). Now I'would like to change a win2000 DC with Win2008R2 DC.
Can you explain to me the correct procedure?
Thankyou

using Windows 2008 media You have to run
adprep /forestprep
adprep /domainprep /gpprep
adprep /rodcprep
install windows 2008 r2
using ntdsutil transfer all fsmo roles to windows 2008
depromote windows 2000
raise domain functional level (to 2003 native)
raise forest functional level (to 2003)With kind regards

Hy Krystian,
these command must be run only on the Win2000 server?
adprep /forestprep
adprep /domainprep /gpprep
adprep /rodcprep
Nothing to do on the other 2 DC win2003R2?
Afther that I've to Join Win2008R2 to the domain?
Do you have a link "step by step" for this operation?
using ntdsutil transfer all fsmo roles to windows 2008
depromote windows 2000
raise domain functional level (to 2003 native)
raise forest functional level (to 2003)
Thankyou

Run ADPREP from Windows 2008 CD.
Make sure you are using the correct version of ADREP:
