All the active directory partitions are configured by default and no one really touches until and unless you integrate a third party application with the active directory using the application directory patition. Benefit of application directory partitions is that applications or services that use Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) can continue using it to access and store their application data in Active Directory.http://www.arabitpro.com
