Account Lockout
Hi,
I had a problem where user's accountautomatically locked. Following are the symptoms -> user connect successfully but when opening ie or outlook, user are being prompted with password. Upon checking, the account is already locked. Adding to this, strangely if the user face this, it will probably happen to the same person over and over again.
Anybody ever faced similar problem before and what could possibly be the root cause to the problem.

This could be if your replication is not happening correctly and passwords are not synch'd. If you have more than 1 DC/GC, you should be checking the event logs for any errors.
From the client side, MS has some account lockout tools you can try:

I've seen this before if you are using this account as a service account. If you change the password and don't update the password for the service account, the account may become locked out.

Also check out the following KB: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/276541
Outlook itself seems to lockout account because it tries too many times on a bad password. The KB indicates that security needs to be set to "none". However,I believe that if the user has multiple mailboxes (a shared "generic" mailbox, for example) and the second mailbox requires different credentials, you'll get the same result.
