Accessing a share on a Windows 2008 R2 Server from Windows 2000
Hi all,
I've a Windows 2008 R2 Server and a share on it, the share has full access to everyone users. The server is'nt member of a domain. I can access the share from our Windows XP Sp3 clients but when I try to connect from some old Windows 2000 professional SP4
clients I have to specify user/password.
Is there a way to access that share from the Windows 2000 clients without joining the server to the same domain of the Windows 2000 clients ?

If your computer is not part of the domain, it will prompt you for a user name password.
Make sure to enter the user name using domain prefix – domain\username

Hi Andrea,
Thanks for post here.
If the server is not a domain member , so what about the Windows XP and Windows 2000 clients?
I suspect that there is an account which same name and same password of windows XP account existed on the Windows server 2008 R2, or perhaps the user name and password
had been stored on the windows XP computer, you may like to read the articles blow to check the stored credentials on windows XP.
